I'm getting antsy just twiddling my thumbs while I wait for the rivet set I need to finish the wing ribs. I finally got a tap and die set though, so I finished up both tie down bars. I tapped the hole that receives the tie down ring, drilled holes for the nutplates, then riveted on the nutplates and bolted the whole thing to the spar. I had used the rattle can primer on these, and for whatever reason it didn't adhere very well. By the time I had bolted the bar on and torqued it down, even though I was very careful, the primer was beat up pretty bad. I keep a little jar of the Stewart primer to use for touch ups, so dunked a q-tip in and swabbed over the bars again. It won't change how easy it is to scrape off the underlying primer layer, but now that this is permanently attached to the spar it doesn't really have to be very tough, just covered.
